Another attack on CRPF Jawans

Anantnag terror attack kills five CRPF Jawans while injuring three others.

After four months of Pulwama suicide attack on a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) convoy, again a Pakistan-based terrorist group ambushed a security patrol in South Kashmir’s Anantnag town, killing five CRPF men and critically injuring three soldiers.

The attack took place at 4.55 P.M, the senior CRPF officer said “At K.P. Chowk in Cheegali, near the general bus stand in Anantnag, troops of the 116 battalion deployed for duties were fired upon by suspected vehicle-borne terrorists”, and the CRPF said “motorcycle-borne terrorists fired upon troops who were on duty. Five CRPF jawans attained martyrdom, three others were injured and evacuated to Janglad Mandi Hospital. One militant had been neutralized, and the area cordoned off. Reinforcements reached and firing ensued."

Pro-Pakistan terrorist group Al-Umar Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack on CRPF and police party. The terrorist group has sent a press release to a local news agency. However, intelligence agencies said that Al-Umar Mujahideen is a defunct terrorist outfit and this attack looks like a handiwork of Jaish-e-Mohammed.
